  • Chinese marque Chery may have only just made a proper relaunch on Malaysian shores, but they have no interest in slowing down. 2024 will mark the arrival of its new upmarket sub-brand Jaecoo, a joint-venture effort with Land Rover, aiming to offer premium off-road SUVs to our market.
    With the C-segment J7 set to be its first contender on our shores, we take a look at this all-wheel drive turbocharged machine to see if it'll hit the ground running, or be pronounced dead on arrival.

      Something something Q4...
      We chose not to cover it as it's a LHD example. Therefore it may be very far away from the specifications we can expect to see locally. There was a bit of an editorial debate on the matter while we were there, and we believed it best only to discuss the cars on display that are closer to finalised MY-spec.
      We believe an RHD example is not too far off though!

    I love the look of it. Your guess at the price range I think is spot on.

    Luxury 5 seater off road capability SUV in the region of rm150(FWD) to rm160(AWD). A fraction of Range Rover price.

      You probably need to ask them because, as the name of the channel suggests, we focus entirely on the Malaysian market unless it concerns exports from Malaysia.

    Hey Aiman, great review but I dont think Jaecoo is a JV between Chery and Land Rover. The relationship between them is that in China, Land rover's operations are a JV between Chery and Land Rover. Not to say they dont have a relationship but its not quite like how Smart is a direct JV with Geely and Mercedes, but dont think Land Rover has any direct input into this brand..

      You think? Aiman was there in the showroom so definitely he already consulted with Jaecoo representative. But still prove him wrong with fatcs ans stats. Your research will help us all to get correctly informed.

    150K no one will buy la, Malaysians are not that deep pocket and willing to take a risk at unknown and unproven cars in Malaysia. They should try to price it similarly to X50 and try to take away Proton's share.

    • @patrickfoo7890
      @patrickfoo7890 5 месяцев назад +12

      Tiggo 8 Pro is 159k yet many people are willing to buy it. I feel like J7 having AWD and still being 30-40k cheaper than equivalent Japanese C segment SUV will still be very attractive.

    Bloody Nora, how many more new Chinese car brands are going to pop up, the market must be absolutely saturated.

    • @MH-is7eu
      @MH-is7eu Месяц назад

      There are hundreds (literally hundreds) of car brands in China. And a lot of them are reputable and successful. Not surprising some of them will try to penetrate outside market.
